About the League
The BWI Golf League is a work plus friends 9-hole league.
Preview our new website for the 2026 season at http://bwigolf.org. The new site is still very much a work-in-progress, but it will eventually provide the following functionality:
1) Allow members to enter their scores directly from their phones
2) Calculate handicaps and weekly results and send weekly results to members
3) Automated member signup which provides a time window for returning members to signup followed by a window for new member signups
4) Calculate year-end results, winnings for each player, create information sheets for year-end banquet and pay out the winnings
5) Full ecommerce capability, allowing members to pay for dues, tournaments, and the banquet via credit card and to view their balance
Weekly play consists of 9 holes of play on weekdays after work, “twilight” play, with tee times typically around 4:00 - 5:15 PM. League members are primarily current employees, retirees and friends.
League weekly play occurs at three golf courses: Timbers at Troy Golf Course, Eisenhower Golf Course, and Diamond Ridge Golf Course.
There are multiple nights of league play at each Course. Members choose their desired course and are then assigned to play on one of the nights at the selected course. There is an attempt to assign people of similar golfing ability for a given night.
Diamond Ridge Tuesday is B flight
Diamond Ridge Thursday is C flight
Timbers Tuesday is B flight
Timbers Wednesday is C flight
Timbers Thursday is A flight
Eisenhower Tuesday is A flight
Weekly play is based on an individual stroke play format (not teams). Competition is against the other members of your night’s “flight” with each member earning points in the standings based on their net score shot (gross score minus handicap) every week.
League members pay their weekly greens fees, for walking or riding, directly to the course.
League membership dues are $60 per season. The dues go primarily towards prizes and defraying the cost of the annual Banquet Dinner at the end of the season. In addition, those members playing at Diamond Ridge also pay the league an additional $30 for reserving tee times for the season. The higher dues at Diamond Ridge are offset by lower green fees.
Golfers are also asked to purchase a Diamond Ridge Advantage Card or Timbers Player’s Card directly from the course, which will lower their weekly greens fees and provide other cost benefits as range balls. Refer to the course websites for details. For information on the Timbers course, their website is http://timbersgolf.com; for the Diamond Ridge Course access thru BaltimoreGolfing.com.
In addition to the weekly play, there are also optional 18-hole outings held at Baltimore area and southern PA courses spread throughout the season’s play. These tournaments are typically on 9-80 Fridays which are non-workdays for many Northrop employees and are for members of the league and their sponsored guests. Tournament cost is typically about $60 - $75 each, depending on the course and whether food is provided.
